Paper Weight Recommendations
80gsm uncoated paper is normally used for photocopiers.
90gsm is a good weight for Letterhead
130gsm coated, either matt or gloss, is ideal for lighter weight brochures. With mail costs being more aligned with the paper weight this can be an important consideration if you want to save mail costs. If you use lighter weight papers than 120gsm on full colour printing
150 -200gsm gives a quality feel to a brochure. With this weight the brochure would need to be creased before it is folded to avoid cracking on the fold.
300gsm is a light card weight and great for business cards, rack cards and booklet covers.
Uncoated, Matt or Gloss?
Uncoated paper is used for stationery or photocopying. It is usually more bulkier that its coated paper equivalents.
Coated paper is sometimes referred to as a art paper. It can have a very glossy, glossy, satin or matt finish.
To be sure of what paper your job is going to be printed on it pays to get a sample to check.
